FAQs - booking Finland flights

  • Can I bring my pet with me when I board my flight from Boston to Finland?

Each airline has its own policy regarding pets in its cabin. For example, Finnair allows cats and dogs in the cabin. Your furry friend must be kept in a carrier, and both the animal and carrier together cannot weigh over 17 lbs. and must fit under the seat in front of you. The airline usually only allows two passengers with pets on a flight, so you should make sure you book as early as possible, and you should contact the airline regarding any other conditions or fees.

  • Where should I fly to in Finland if I want to visit Santa’s Village?

If you want to visit Santa’s Village in Finland’s Lapland, you should fly to Rovaniemi Airport (RVN), which is only about two miles away. From Boston, you could find options such as one-stop flights with Air France through Paris or two-stop flights with Austrian Airlines with layovers in Washington, DC, and Vienna.

  • Are there nonstop flights from Boston to Finland?

Currently, there are no direct flights to Finland from Boston. For the country’s main airport, Helsinki Airport (HEL) in Helsinki, you can find many one-stop flights, such as KLM through Amsterdam or American Airlines through New York. For smaller airports, such as Ivalo Airport (IVL) in the Arctic Circle, you may find one-stop flights, like those through Frankfurt with Lufthansa, but there will usually be more multiple-stop options, such as Finnair through New York and Helsinki.

  • Will I have to wait long during my layovers between Boston and Finland?

You may prefer a journey that has stops, but you may not want to wait long between flights. You can use the “layover’ filter in your KAYAK search, so you could find, for example, flights to Rovaniemi Airport (RVN) with layovers of less than two hours each, such as with Air France through New York and Paris.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Boston to Finland?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Boston to Finland.

  • How does KAYAK's flight Price Forecast tool help me choose the right time to buy my flight ticket from Boston to Finland?

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight to Finland from Boston is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Boston to Finland?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly to Finland with an airline and back to Boston with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Boston to Finland?

Sometimes travel dates aren't set in stone. If your preferred travel dates have some wiggle room, flexible dates will show you all the options when flying to Finland from Boston up to 3 days before/after your preferred dates. You can then pick the flights that suit you best.

Really bad baggage handling. Had my Rimowa bag badly damaged at the latches.

It was pretty good I was worried with the short Layover that I might not catch my connection but the gate was there

It was good until there was a 3 hour delay because there was not any pilots to fly the plane.

There was plenty of overhead room but half of the passengers were told they had to check their carryon bags. My partner and I checked in as early as possible and our seats were split across the aisle.

Friendly flight attendants. Comfort plus seats were very comfortable and had lots of leg room. 10A and 10 B.

I've flown many many times on Northwest and then Delta. The crew on this flight were absolutely the best I've had the pleasure of being looked after by.

Flew first class so everything was great. But maybe because the flights were red eye, no meals were served, just chips. I flew Alaska Air 1st class at 9PM (2 hour flight) and they served beef short rib sliders!

Had to change aircraft due to a faulty door. Surprisingly it only caused about an hour and a half of delay. Delta handled this situation as well as can be expected.

Awful. Flight was continuously getting delayed and gates kept changing without any reason. Flight was delayed for more then 3 hours

Paid premium for Delta only to be on safe but tired old 767 with ancient cabin in mediocre condition. Poor wifi and horrible inflight entertainment. Hardly a premium experience. Should have flown SW and had fun flight crew and no pretense

Not great. Flight attendants were aloof, food was mediocre, seats that I paid $150 were given to someone else without any concession. I will probably never use kayak again. Terrible experience from start to finish.

The wine was low quality Finnair label stuff in small bottles and only one small bottle each. Embarassinng. A competing airline served me two generous glasses of a nice South African Shiraz from regular wine bottles, a Beck's beer, and a generous Dewar's White Label on the rocks. Cabin service was good and polite, plane interior was beautiful, but cramped.

All good- I love BA and the professionalism of the crew and pilots.

Great flight- smooth, nice crew, nice clean aircraft, departed a little late but arrived 10 early.

Sorting on line would have been appreciated Onward information on flights missed No ability to get seating arranged before we got to gate Very unfriendly at gate

The flight was Finnair but there was no indications anywhere that the checkin was for Finnair also. There was no one to ask. I think at a minimum they should list the code shares so people don’t stand in the wrong line for an hour.

I booked the flight with Finnair, which made the arrangements for downloading a boarding pass unnecessarily complicated. I wouldn't do that again. Instead I'd book direct with AA.

Flight ok, but me and other two passengers didn’t have connection with the entertainment in our seats. So, no movies, no games, no music… for 9 hours. The crew just told us that there’s nothing they can do but I noticed during the flight that there were empty seats, so they could have offered to us to change seats. Customer service could be better.

Had a nice flight to London on BA will fly with them again in the future

Finnair cancelled my flight 12 hours prior to leaving for Helsinki. They stated there were mechanical problems. I had to scurry around to find a new flight that would meet my needs for arrival in Helsinki. Luckily I was able to find alternate transportation through Lufthansa/United.

SAS is the representation of the Scandinavian minimalism, which I like. I wished they had a more relaxed policy on free water distribution beyond one bottle (500 ml) per person and two drinks, including water, per overseas flight.

TERRIBLE! Staff was unfriendly, rude, and demeaning. One flight attendant touched me to grab the complimentary blanket off my neck because I couldn't take it home, while a bunch of other people took theirs home. I have never been so ill treated. I am not happy at all. And flight was delayed, no information until short notice for everything. Lost an entire day at my destination. I expect a full refund for that experience. Never will fly with them EVER again

My return flight has been changed to JFK from EWR without any notice or reason

I upgraded to economy plus and it’s so worth the price. The crew is exceptional and the food is pretty decent. I would definitely fly with them again.

Flight was delayed 3 hours. Pilot cancelled flight under 4 people volunteered to change their seats to economy from business class.

I couldn’t make it to the airport for my original flight due to bad weather; roads were shut down, buses and trains were closed. Since the plane wasn’t cancelled, I still had to pay $720 to change my ticket.

Last minute cancelation, though a substitute flight was found I could not pick my meal or seat. The hotel offered didn't have working air control or shower.

My seat was not the one I paid for, the crew was very curt, and the cabin was extremely warm.

Old plane with terrible business class seats - good food and service. Boarding was a joke with business class boarding last.

Best airline to travel on a budget- really like their reasonably priced access to the SAS lounges where available.

The flights was delayed by hours and it was the firmest landing I have experienced in my life. My back is still sore.

Internet service was erratic. Crew service was poor and slow. My luggage on this non-stop flight was lost and not recovered

Terrible. I didn’t fly and I had an important meeting the next day.

Missed this flight due to the first AA flight delay

Equipment swap led to 2+ hour delay on international flight. And to top it off, boarding took forever.

Wretched scheduling - they got themselves into a critical crew situation and didn’t try to address it until 15 minutes before they had to cancel my flight

They cancelled two flight and got us onto another airline, which was also delayed.

Nothing, terrible travel experience due to weather and maintenance delays and was left stranded in Austin.

Missed connection from Philadelphia to London because flight from DC was seriously delayed. Was re-routed the next day (had to pay for hotel) to Zurich and was given a main cabin middle seat while I had paid for premium. Great job AA!!!

My husband and I pre-ordered our food, but they did not have my husband’s order, and my cheese plate was very average. I asked for a blanket and was told they don’t carry blankets on domestic routs. The flight was on time and smooth!

My experience with Icelandair was just ok, nothing special. Requested wheelchair service for my wife and none was offered at checking in Baltimore or available for her upon arrival at Gatwick airport in London.

Decent service - nice seats. Crew were not overly attentive but can’t complain overall for the money

Very nice flight, easy connections in Keflavík, and friendly crew.

I will never fly this airline again. Checking in was poor , we had to go back to the check in counter at Raleigh - Durham international airport three times because they didn’t issue my boarding pass but rather duplicated my husband’s twice which caused a big headache at the passport control at the airport which triggered security alert and wouldn’t let us pass through we we had to wait for long time to be able to explain and clear everything after talking to the supervisor.. No food on the plane , not even crackers. No food was offered to buy ether . No ear phone was provided . Very little time to make from one plane to another and nobody to assist with smooth transition. Flight itself , we felt safe so thank you to the pilots . But customer service was terrible . We spent $ 2500 on 2 tickets, so I cannot say that service was consistent with the price .

Seats are way too much now with these new airplanes especially long flights like we had. I was 7 month pregnant and in a lot of discomfort due to small seats.

Food was horrible. This wasn’t business class. No leg space, can’t sleep in row position, huge delay

I liked how easy my transfers between flights in Keflavik were. I would have appreciated more food options in Keflavik.

The plane was flaming hot! Could not breathe. Everyone coughing from heat. Awful.

My biggest problem was the flight from KEF to DUB was delayed, which caused me to miss my connecting flight in DUB and we were forced into an unplanned 10-hour layover in DUB. Crew and boarding staff were all very friendly but this was a real inconvenience and especially uncomfortable for my disabled wife.

Not much! This was my first flight with Iceland air and unfortunately it wasn’t what I have expected. My luggage is lost nothing as of yet where it was left. Not a good service at all!!
